Growing up in Signal Mountain, TN, I have spent a lot of time hiking all of its trails. Here, I will detail my four favorite hiking locations spread across the mountain as well as include an interactive map to help you find them.
The four locations are color coordinated.
Mushroom Rock
The Mushroom Rock trail resides behind the Signal Mtn. Middle High School’s (SMMHS) soccer fields. The name of the trail is given by the bizarre rock formation that resides at the trail’s middle point.

The rock is the trail’s main attraction. But here, the trail splits off into three new directions that you can further explore. If you choose to take the trail behind Mushroom Rock, then you will be led down hill to the North Suck Creek.
At this creek you will come across a swinging bridge that will take you to the other side where you may choose to continue your journey or not.

Falling Water Falls
This trail is in Walden County on the back half of the mountain. This trail splits near its start. Taking the left route will lead you down the mountain side towards a beautiful, natural water fall with an area to swim. The right route leads you to a beautiful overlook where you can see the magnificence of northern Chattanooga.
Rainbow Falls
The Rainbow Falls trail connects to the Mushroom Rock trail if you are up for a long hike. But the main attraction of this trail is the Rainbow Falls itself. The Rainbow Falls is a manmade water fall in the North Suck Creek.

The falls gets its name from the rainbow the falls make when splashing into the creek. This trail is great if you would like to bring your dog and/or go for a swim!
Signal Point
Signal Point is an overlook of Raccoon Mountain as well as the Tennessee River. Residing in old town Signal Mtn, Signal Point is a great place for picnics and an easy 5.1 mile out and back hike to Edward’s Point.
This trail is very close to the Rainbow Falls trail too. The heads of each trial are about a ten minute walk and a three minute drive away from one another. Many times have I stopped at Signal Point to enjoy a lunch prior to hiking down to Rainbow Falls.
